The Youth Internet Governance Forum India (YIGF) was founded in 2018 by Ihita Gangavarapu and Shahul Hameed. The vision of YIGF is to raise youth awareness of internet governance issues and encourage them to participate in informed technological developments and public policy discussions. Eventually, the initiative aims at building a new cadre of internet leaders motivated to learn, engage and take action to strengthen the internet governance policy ecosystem within the region and beyond.
After receiving recognition from the United Nations Internet Governance Forum (IGF) in 2018 and support from the India School on Internet Governance (InSIG), Youth IGF India has successfully organized five annual forums covering Delhi, Kolkata, Mumbai, Chennai, and Hyderabad. We have also empowered youth through multiple year-round online initiatives and collaborations.
