Code of Conduct

Youth IGF India is a United Nations IGF recognised multistakeholder platform dedicated to building youth engagement in internet governance. This Code of Conduct applies to everyone who engages with YIGF India in any capacity, including participants, fellows, volunteers, speakers, partners, and members of our online community, across every channel and initiative we run. This includes the annual forum, fellowship programme, webinars, workshops, social media, email communications, and any other space where YIGF India brings people together.

What We Expect

We expect everyone engaging with YIGF India to treat others with respect and dignity, regardless of background, identity, profession, or stakeholder group. Disagreement and debate are welcome and form a core part of internet governance discourse, but they should be conducted constructively and in good faith. We expect honesty in how individuals represent themselves, their affiliations, and their contributions, and consideration for the diverse and intergenerational community that YIGF India brings together.

What We Do Not Tolerate

Harassment, discrimination, or intimidation of any kind will not be tolerated. This includes conduct based on gender, caste, religion, sexual orientation, disability, nationality, or any other personal characteristic. We do not tolerate sexual harassment in any form, deliberate disruption of sessions or discussions, misrepresentation of affiliation with YIGF India, or the use of YIGF India’s name, platform, or network for purposes unrelated to its mission without authorisation.

Online and Social Spaces

The same standards apply across our online spaces, including social media, community groups, and any digital platform where YIGF India facilitates interaction. Respectful disagreement is welcome. Personal attacks, spam, and harmful or misleading content are not.

At Our Events

Be mindful of those around you. If you notice someone in distress, or witness behaviour that concerns you, please alert an organiser. Harassing photography or recording, and the inappropriate use of images or content in presentations, talks, or shared materials, are treated as seriously as any other form of harassment.

Consequences

Anyone asked to stop a behaviour that goes against this Code of Conduct is expected to comply immediately. Depending on the nature and severity of the concern, YIGF India organisers may take appropriate action, including removal from a session, event, or future YIGF India initiatives.

Reporting a Concern

If you experience or witness behaviour that goes against this Code of Conduct, please write to us at youthigfindia@gmail.com. All reports will be treated with discretion and addressed appropriately. We are committed to maintaining a platform where everyone, especially the young people we exist to serve, feels safe to participate and contribute.
